Bermuda and Invasive Weed in Residential and Commercial Lawns

Bermuda is a serious problem in cool season turfgrass mainly because it turns an undesirable brown color in cool season turf during the winter.  Bermuda in the Transitional Zone will be dormant (brown) from September to May.  Bermuda, like all warm season grass, crawls into landscape beds, to or from adjoining lawns and will crawl over sidewalks and driveways.  Being a warm season grass, Bermuda is very aggressive during the summer.  It spreads using a system of horizontal underground stems (rhizomes) and above ground horizontal stems (stolons) and to a lesser degree, by seed.
