Our Seeding Services

Regular Lawn Seeding

Fairway Green offers lawn seeding as an alternative to sod or plugging. Fairway Green utilizes core aeration and/ or slit seeding combined with our custom grass seed to create the perfectly lush lawn of your dreams. Slit seeding does a great job establishing a lawn from scratch. However, it will not aid in reducing any soil compaction. Combining annual seeding with our core aeration service will help reduce some compaction while preparing a seed bed, resulting in a more effective seeding treatment and a more beautiful result.

We Put the “Southern Perfection” in Your Lawn

Southern Perfection is Fairway Green’s very own hand selected turf-type tall fescue mixture. This mixture was selected for use in the Transitional Zone of North Carolina, otherwise known as the piedmont area of Raleigh and Charlotte. The individual varieties were selected for the highest drought tolerance and recovery, heat tolerance, disease resistance and turf quality and color.

What is it Made of?

Southern Perfection contains three (3) turf- type tall fescues and 3% Kentucky Bluegrass. Fairway Green performs 50gram tests on 20,000 pound lots and is able to provide a fescue mixture with 0% weed seed, 0% other crop and an excellent germination rate. We use Southern Perfection in both our seeding methods. Southern Perfection is now offered to the public in 50-pound bags. Fairway Green uses our mixture for our customer’s lawns because we know it is the very best for the Transitional Zone!

What Do Our Customers Think?

The seed that Fairway Green uses, Southern Perfection, is super resistant to brown spot fungus. Our next door neighbor had horrible outbreaks of brown spot fungus all over his yard next to our yard, but when the fungus got to the edge of our yard it stopped in its tracks; it didn’t enter our yard. Great seed!

They have it down to a science and their seed is top notch. I moved about a year ago and didn’t hesitate to bring Fairway Green along with me. I’ve been complimented on my lawn enough times to know we make a good team.

Our grass looks great! We’ve only been in our new house a year and Fairway Green started working on our lawn less than a year ago (beginning in August with aeration and seeding) and we’ve been really impressed with the progress since then! Looking back at pictures from last year June – there has been a really, really positive change! We get compliments on the lawn all the time! Excited to see continued improvements in the future!

Lawn Seeding FAQs

How Should I Care for My Lawn After Seeding?

  • Maintain good soil moisture with light, frequent waterings (though sunny areas of the lawn may need two or three light waterings a day).
  • Do not mow your lawn until it reaches 3 1/2″ to 4″ tall (this is normally the highest setting on your mower).
  • Keep leaves off of it by blowing rather than raking.

How Long Does It Take Grass To Grow After Seeding?

Cool-season grasses typically take 7-21 days and warm-season grasses typically take 28 days. It also depends on if the grass is/isn’t receiving enough water and what temperatures are like.

Should You Fertilize Or Aerate Your Lawn Before Or After Seeding?

You should generally fertilize and aerate before seeding, but our soil test can help determine the best strategy for your lawn. Additionally, you can also consider core-aeration seeding, which we offer to cover everything you’ll need.
